Britpop royalty The Feeling will headline this year’s Rugfest on 21-23 June in Wallingford. Joined by Freak Power, Galaxy Thief, My Darling Clementine, The Echo, and in partnership with Wallingford Beer & Blues, it’s set to be a superb weekend for all the family.
2019 sees the return of Rugfest; bigger, better, and longer than ever before! Over the space of three days, festival goers will experience the very best musical talent from across the country, tonnes of activities for all the family and a superb range of beverages and cuisine to make it a memorable weekend for all.
The festival takes place from Friday 21st June through to Sunday 23rd June 2019 and is held at the Hithercroft Sports Park in Wallingford, Oxfordshire. Hosted by Wallingford Rugby Club and, new for 2019, now in partnership with Wallingford Beer and Blues Festival. Having been cancelled in 2017, Friday night at Rugfest will bring this much-loved event back to the community, where Climax Blues Band, Papa George Band and Hip Route will bring the very best of Blues to open what’s set to be a barnstorming weekend.
Last year Rugfest celebrated its 10th year in style, welcoming nearly 5,000 festival goers over two days, culminating in a feel-good set from Britpop legends Scouting for Girls. This year the organisers are delighted to announce International superstars The Feeling as the first headliners for Saturday, playing at the family-friendly time of 17.30. The UK rock band, who are Ivor Novello award winners, have a number 1 UK album to their name, along with multiple top-ten hits such as ‘Never Be Lonely’ and ‘Fill My Little World’. They’ve played Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, Wembley Stadium, and now they’re bringing their greatest hits to Rugfest! Closing Saturday night’s entertainment will be the second headliners Freak Power, the energetic funk band formed by Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) and Ashley Slater in the early 1990’s. Best known for their iconic hit “Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out", they will bring an explosive set to conclude Saturday’s fun, so get ready to dance a lot! Also, on show on Saturday will be RSVP Bhangra, Galaxy Thief, The Britpop Boys and more.
The fun continues into Sunday this year and you can expect more of the same with Rugfest’s House Rock Band, The Unusual Suspects at 16.00. They’ll be joined by My Darling Clementine, the 2Tone All Ska’s and Lightyears, before The Echo close the festival with their tour de force of the very best British rock, pop and ska.
